Staff at L&H Homes have been getting
behind the National Housing Federations supported housing month by
holding events at their Skegness offices.
Supported Housing Month is aimed at raising
awareness and the profile of the good work carried out in the
supported housing sector in the East Midlands.
To mark the month, L&H Homes held an
afternoon event in Skegness where service users were invited to get
together and talk about how the support they receive helps.
Housing Support Officer Dean Moors also talked to attendees about
supported housing, and the benefits people can gain. Staff
provided jacket potatoes and cake to all attendees.
L&H Homes have joined together with the
National Housing Federation and other providers throughout the East
Midlands to “shout” about these vital services.
L&H Homes provides support to vulnerable
adults to maintain their tenancies, offering a range of services
such as assistance with budgeting, claiming benefits, to access
professional, physical and emotional health care and making a
positive contribution to the community (via employment and
voluntary work). These services do not just help individuals
but provides a vital contribution to the wider community.
Vulnerable tenants who are supported to promote or maintain their
independence are less likely to become homeless, involved in
illegal activities or spend time in hospitals or care
settings. Enabling vulnerable tenants to share in the
community improves our lives on a social and economic level.
