Right to Buy

How it Works

If you are interested in purchasing your current home through Right to Buy we would encourage you to contact one of our sales advisors. They will be able to check your tenancy agreement to see if you are eligible for the scheme.

If you do have the right to buy, we will ask you to complete a Right to Buy claim application form.

Upon receipt of your claim form, we will send you a notice telling you whether or not you have the right to buy. You should receive this within 4 weeks of the date on which Longhurst & Havelok Homes (L&H Homes) received your Claim form.

If you do not have the Right to Buy, we will explain why.

If we agree to sell your home to you, we will send you a separate notice which tells you the price you have to pay and the terms and conditions of the sale.

Once you are happy with the terms and conditions outlined by L&H Homes and you decide whether you wish to proceed with the purchase you then need to arrange to raise the money, if you need a mortgage, this is when you should talk to a bank or building society.

You should also ask your solicitor for advice on the legal documents and making payment. It may take a couple of months before you become the owner of your home.
