Right to Buy

Who Qualifies

If you have been a secure tenant for at least two years, or five years if you became a tenant after January 2005 you may have the Right to Buy your home at a discount.

You will not have the Right to Buy if:

  • You are an assured tenant of a housing association and do not possess a Preserved Right to Buy.
  • Your home is rented in relation to your employment
  • The courts have issued a possession order for you to leave your home.
  • You are undergoing bankruptcy proceedings
  • You live in housing specially provided for older people.

 

Right to Acquire

Who Qualifies

To qualify for the Right to Acquire scheme a property must have been built or purchased by us, funded on or after the 1 April 1997 through social housing grant provided by the Housing Corporation or a local authority.

Properties that were transferred from a local authority to L&H Homes after the 1 April 1997 will also qualify.

You will not be eligible if:

  • You are a council tenant
  • The courts have issued a possession order for you to leave your home
  • You are undergoing bankruptcy proceedings
  • You live in housing specially provided for older people
